SUNS DROP SECOND STRAIGHT TO BLUECLAWS

LAKEWOOD, NJ – For the second time in as many nights the Hagerstown Suns (3-3) lost a close game to the Lakewood BlueClaws (3-4) at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, NJ.

Again it was the bottom of the eighth inning that proved to be the Suns undoing, as Hagerstown managed to tie the game in the top half of the inning before Lakewood struck for two runs off reliever Clint Everts in the home half.

Everts (0-1) took the loss for Hagerstown, while reliever Jared Simon (2-1) picked up his second win in a row over the Suns in relief.

Jeff Mandel had a solid start on the mound for the Suns, but ran into trouble in the sixth inning and finished with a line of 5 1/3 innings pitched and four earned runs allowed.

The Suns will play their home opener at Municipal Stadium on Friday, April 11th at 6:35 P.M. Gates will open at 5:35 P.M.
